Japanese Dependency Parsing using Relative Preference of Dependency

چکیده

This paper presents a new statistical Japanese dependency parser which models a relative preference of dependency. Most conventional Japanese dependency parsers are based on binary classifications where all possible pairs of segments are classified into positive (dependent) or negative (non-dependent) examples. However, such methods are not suitable for dependency parsing, since the goal of this task is not to classify a pair of segments into two classes, but to select the most likely modifiee out of all candidates. The proposed method is based on this observation and models how likely a pair of segments have a dependency relation in comparison with other pairs. Experiments using the Kyoto University Corpus show that the method outperforms previous systems as well as improves the training efficiency.

Japanese Dependency Parsing Using a Tournament Model

In Japanese dependency parsing, Kudo’s relative preference-based method (Kudo and Matsumoto, 2005) outperforms both deterministic and probabilistic CKY-based parsing methods. In Kudo’s method, for each dependent word (or chunk) a loglinear model estimates relative preference of all other candidate words (or chunks) for being as its head. This cannot be considered in the deterministic parsing me...

An improved joint model: POS tagging and dependency parsing

Dependency parsing is a way of syntactic parsing and a natural language that automatically analyzes the dependency structure of sentences, and the input for each sentence creates a dependency graph. Part-Of-Speech (POS) tagging is a prerequisite for dependency parsing. Generally, dependency parsers do the POS tagging task along with dependency parsing in a pipeline mode. Unfortunately, in pipel...

Japanese Word Reordering Integrated with Dependency Parsing

Although Japanese has relatively free word order, Japanese word order is not completely arbitrary and has some sort of preference. Since such preference is incompletely understood, even native Japanese writers often write Japanese sentences which are grammatically well-formed but not easy to read. This paper proposes a method for reordering words in a Japanese sentence so that the sentence beco...

Learning Preference of Dependency between Japanese Subordinate Clauses and its Evaluation in Parsing

Utsuro et al., 2000) proposed statistical method for learning dependency preference of Japanese subordinate clauses, in which scope embedding preference of subordinate clauses is exploited as a useful information source for disambiguating dependencies between subordinate clauses. Following (Utsuro et al., 2000), this paper presents detailed results of evaluating the proposed method by comparing...

Incremental dependency parsing of Japanese spoken monologue based on clause boundaries

In applications of spoken monologue processing such as simultaneous machine interpretation and real-time captions generation, incremental language parsing is strongly required. This paper proposes a technique for incremental dependency parsing of Japanese spoken monologue on a clause-by-clause basis. The technique identifies the clauses based on clause boundaries analysis, analyzes the dependen...
